Having directed to the question of being the westerner or the easterner … As a Turkish boy, I have faced with this bothersome situation many times so far. And I should confess that whenever I try to explain the situtation to the addressee, I was unnecessarily pride of extending our legs to the both side, namely explaining that Turkey is practically a part of west and historically a part of east. Now, I started to realize that I am not a westerner and not an easterner. So to speak, intersection of these two is just an empty set. What might be worse is not knowing how to define yourself in a map. But then I thought maybe the case is more promising. Perhaps, not fitting to the mold of others perception gives us a unique and yet an unusual character. So, therefore I’ve decided to define the people of Turkey is an impossible empty set but at reality.
